Hi!

I’m Jenna & welcome to my happy space. Have fun navigating my adventures and so much more! My goal is that you learn a little, laugh a little, and get a spark to find your Something More! See you inside.

Que Pasa Mexico

Que Pasa Mexico

If I could describe the most chill, but upscale and modern hostel meant for more grown up travelers, it would be where we are. Insert mood lighting, open concept, free yoga mats, all the lounge couches, hanging planters, and bar closing at 7pm. I am in my element. - I meaning travel Jen that is. It's been a while, wassup? My roaming cat friend says hola.

MN winter's been wearing me down so it just felt right taking off for that Mexican sunshine! Fun fact: neither Jake nor myself have ever been to Mexico (mostly true). It’s never really tickled much of my interest as it’s always been stuck in my mind as such a mainstream American resort vacation…and for those of you who know me, that’s not my style of travel. I prefer the rugged, more authentic sides of new places vs bottomless margs (and naps) on the beach - yall do YOU tho! (Says the girl who ordered mashed potatoes at a Hard Rock Cafe in Ho Chi Minh city)

We were very interested in Belize, however, and exploring their reefs and it just so happened flights to Cancun were loads cheaper (que explanation for INSANE customs lines) and really just a quick skip away. So along came “MexiLize 2023”. Turns out after some research, Mexico is more than Sandals all-inclusive resorts (not to harsh your buzz Sandals all-inclusive people - we all have different loves).

So here we found ourselves - sitting at the airport's Margaritaville, drinking $30 USD margs, clearly exploring the MOST authentic partes de Mexico - L.O.L. (spanglish required to comprehendo this entry).

Today was my first Mexican experience really (unless you count the many visits to El Agave during my college years) - oh and my dodge into Tijuana for work a few years back. I mean, I did taste some roadside stale churros!

The tastes and smells of true roadside Mexican tacos are just out of this world - sample size N=1 but if that is any indication, this is looking realllll nice. #tengohambre Easily, Mexican food is the largest food group of staple in my life. Don’t know what to make? You best believe I'm tossing up a taco, quesadilla, or fajitas. So seeing tacos on every corner being freshly sauted is just delightful and one of my favorite parts of the whole 6 hours since I’ve left the airport.

Speaking of the airport by the way…pure chaos. I have seen a fair amount of dysfunctional custom's lines in my life - trust me when I say this was madness. May the most aggressive man win! #namaste

We quickly rolled out of Cancun after that fiasco and rolled into Tulum this evening, where we experienced these magical tacos and topped the night off with another fam favorite, CHURROS. The goddamn freshest, most crunchy and perfectly sugared churros of all time. The universe loves us.💗

Peace, love, and mas tacos por favor!

yo’ girl Jen, in full travel mode

PS) did I mention TWO margs (one virgin) at Margaritaville cost $45!?! USD!

PPS) check out this gnarly breakfast burrito we found by following the locals :P #happyJen #tacosforlife #burritobabe
